half of the sixth century A.D. On expansion of the
Bharmour kingdom territory, Chamba was established as main
capital by Raja Sahil Singh Verma in the first half of
10th century A.D. In all there have been 67 Rajas who
ruled over Chamba starting with Maru the founder of
Brahmpura- Chamba kingdom and ended with Raja Lakshaman
Singh. It seems to be a unique case in India where one
dynasty continued to rule the state from sixth century to
the present times.
